I'm so keen to do SOMETHING - racing or mucking about in a park, dirt jumps, learning a few tricks.

Toying with the idea of getting a new school racer - Haro Pro XL maybe?. Just daydreaming really at the moment. Not sure where to start, I need a beginners group or course or something! I'm darn sarf and don't even know what my closest track is to Southampton (Portsmouth or Poole/Bournemouth?)

I've never been on a track in my life. I'm 41, 5'9" and around 12 stone (I hope!). Southern Andy and Sawzall on rad seem to be my closest local enthusiasts, might drop them a line...

EDIT: of course Andy mentioned a Chandlers Ford/Eastleigh track. That is my closest modern track. 8-)

Just go for it mate!,
Up intill this time last year, i had never raced either, being a skaterat for most my life,
am pish at the racin'-BUT , i love it.
Me and Stu travel over 100 miles there/back, to race at clydebank, but once there, its well worth it.
As long as you are having fun on your bike. 8-)

I went up to this local track in my lunch hour today to see the lie of the land and it looks pretty good. Will be ideal for practicing and getting used to riding jumps and berms I think.

From reading the council pages I think the idea was to create something that could easily be upgraded to national standards if money was available but not sure if that ever happened. I did ask 3 kids that were up there on park bikes if there was ever races and they said yes.

EDIT: Ooh here you go http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic ... track-open this is exactly how it looked today. 8-)

Well I could not really afford it and I am struggling a bit 'til the end of the month but, with the welcome help of johnjo74 I have a 2011 Haro Pro XL Plus winging its way to me.

Hopefully should arrive tomorrow and I can't wait to take it out for a spin and post some pics up on here. Once I've got used to the feel on my local track I'm going to head down to Gosport BMX club on a Saturday morning and join in with the beginners to try my luck.

Riders ready...
